Best Slim Fit Dress Pant Reviews
1. Dockers Men's Slim-Fit Signature Khaki Pant D1
Dockers Slim Fit Khaki Pants are low-to-mid range men's dress pants on the affordability scale and also have very high consumer ratings.
Dockers are a sub-division of the famous Levi Strauss brand that’s known all over the world for its exquisite craftsmanship of both pants and jeans. Do the company's men's slim fit slacks have the same fit as their jeans? We’ll find out.
Consumers can expect to get more than just a good deal with these pants because the features that come with them are worth more than double the price. These dress pants are made from 98% cotton and 2% twill, have a zip fly and button closure, and stretch for more natural performance.
Among some of the other features are wrinkle-resistant material, and a color-lasting technology that keeps the fabric from fading over time. The pants have an individual fit waistband with a straight leg opening and side-slant pockets at the sides.
Overall, the Dockers are a solid pair of slacks, but they could do with extra give in the waistband. These pants also attract dust and lint, so it might be worth purchasing in colors other than black. You might want to buy a size up if you expect to machine dry them because they’re known to shrink.
- Individual fit waistband
- No wrinkles, permanent crease, soft hand
- Button through front closure
- 1/4 top front pockets, double welt button through back pockets
- Machine washable

2. Van Heusen Men's Traveler Slim Fit Pant
For a long time now, Van Heusen has been a leading international competitor in the menswear market, and its slim fit pants have enough of a high customer rating that we were compelled to find out what it is about them that makes them so unique, no matter what the cost.
Admittedly, we were expecting a brand with such a reputation to be expensive but were pleased to find out that it was friendly on the wallet.
Van Heusen makes some impressive claims with their Men’s Traveler Slim Fit Pant. Not only are these comfortable men's pants affordable, but they are designed with an anti-microbial technology that helps to fight off odors.
The natural stretch, flexible waistband, and slim-fit pants also feature soil release to prevent stains, a moisture-wicking technology that sucks up moisture from the body, and wrinkle-resistant fabric finishing.
One thing we noticed is that the material is thinner than that of most slim-fit pants, which can be a pro or a con. Keep in mind that the pants do run on the short side and have a chance of shrinking in a laundry cycle, so it’s best to purchase a size up.
There are additional colors available, but remember this: the black is not solid black, and there is a faint pattern to notice.
- Slim fit
- Soil release - soil release properties help eliminate dirt and stains from fabric
- Flex waistband - expandable flex waistband stretches at least 1 1/2 inch
- Non iron - say goodbye to your iron, and say hello to effortless style. With a wrinkle-resistant finish this style will always look its best
- Wicking - moisture-wicking properties pull moisture away from the body keeping you dry and feeling cool
What's to like about the Van Heusen Men's Traveler Slim Fit Pant
- Anti-microbial technology
- Moisture-wicking technology
What's not to like about the Van Heusen Men's Traveler Slim Fit Pant
- Not solid black
- Thinner material
3. Kenneth Cole Reaction Men's Urban Heather Slim-Fit Flat-Front Dress Pant
Another brand that’s been making waves for over three decades is Kenneth Cole. While the brand seems to have mastered the art in decently priced dress attire, the American-bred company, which has partners all over the world, got its start in shoes. Do the pants compare?
These slim-fit dress pants from Kenneth Cole’s Reaction line have a flat front with a low-rise waist and front pockets that are off the seam.
The imported, 100% polyester mens pants are explicitly dry clean only, have a tab-and-hook closure, and they taper downwards from the knee. Also, the fabric is incredibly soft, and the seams seem to be double stitched to confirm durability.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a broad range of sizes available for these slacks, and they seem to be geared towards an average/slimmer man.
The fit seems to be slimmest around the seat and the thighs, which is a good thing to take into consideration when purchasing. Additionally, the fabric is shinier than expected and isn’t a matte finish.
- Slim-fit dress pant with flat front featuring low-rise waist and off-seam front pockets
- Double-welt back pockets
- Tab-and-hook closure
- Tapers from the knee

4. Perry Ellis Men's Solid Herringbone Slim-Fit Pant
For decades now, the Perry Ellis name has been inspiring men on racks and on the runway. The designer behind the brand wanted to make clothing with the regular working man in mind. We chose the Perry Ellis slim-fit pant to include in the list because of consumer reviews, reputation, and cost.
Available in a range of different colors, the Perry Ellis Herringbone Slim-Fit Pant has impressed customers in a big way.
The slim-fit trousers are constructed with stretchable fabric, set-in leg creases, and welt pockets at the back. Other features of the polyester/rayon/spandex blended slacks include a French fly, slanted side pockets, zipper closure, and the Herringbone texture.
Aside from having a poor selection of sizes for the everyday working man, these pants are plentiful at the waist. While that does make it beneficial for those who can’t find their size, it becomes a hassle to customers who believe they are getting one size, and end up finding out that these pants are a bit too large.
Outside of that, the only potential negatives we found were the thin material that isn’t suitable for the cold and shiny fabric.
What's to like about the Perry Ellis Men's Solid Herringbone Slim-Fit Pant
- French fly
- Stretchable fabric
- Herringbone texture
What's not to like about the Perry Ellis Men's Solid Herringbone Slim-Fit Pant
- Lack of sizes
- Waist runs large
5. Goodthreads Men's Slim-Fit Wrinkle-Free Dress Chino Pant
Comparing itself to both J. Crew and Banana Republic, there’s no way that we could leave Goodthreads off the list.
The Amazon brand is exclusive to Amazon Prime members and is sold at an affordable price. So far, the consumer feedback on the slim-fit dress pants has been positive, but we compared it against men’s slacks that have been at the top of the game for years to see how they compare.
The trousers designed by the Amazon team are made from 98% cotton and 2% spandex, which make for just enough stretch to move freely in the pants. This also, of course, adds to their comfort.
The stylish pants have a zip fly with button closure, are machine washable, and made from wrinkle-resistant fabric. The pants are stylish with the modern slim-fit design, but provide the classic comfortability of a relaxed fit.
Designed as a more affordable alternative to the J. Crew and Banana Republic dress pants, the price is right and definitely a great replacement option, but keep in mind you don’t get everything you would with the higher end brands.
Unfortunately, the button on the Goodthreads slim-fit pants is just sewn on with a thread, which doesn’t give a lot of confidence. Also, the fabric is shinier than we would have liked and the material itself is quite thin.
The overall fit of the pants was good, though the waistband was flimsy and had difficulties not folding over, even with a belt.
- A classic dress chino in a modern slim fit, this non-iron Goodthreads trouser is as easy to care for as it is stylish to wear
- Sits at waist; zip fly with button closure
- Model is 6'1" and wearing a size 32 x 32
- If you like J.Crew or Banana Republic pants, check out Goodthreads' selection of effortlessly stylish pants
What's to like about the Goodthreads Men's Slim-Fit Wrinkle-Free Dress Chino Pant
- Zip fly with button closure
- Wrinkle resistant
What's not to like about the Goodthreads Men's Slim-Fit Wrinkle-Free Dress Chino Pant
- Flimsy waistband
- Sewn-on button
After looking at the five dress pants and comparing everything from the range of sizes, cost, durability, comfort to consumer rating, and fit, we’ve been able to narrow down just what we think are the best slim fit dress pants that you can buy.
One of the benefits of this list is that you don’t need to worry about breaking the bank to purchase the pants because they’re all affordable.
For us, the Van Heusen Men’s Traveler Slim Fit Pant is the best choice. The design is stylish, they’re comfortable, and the anti-microbial technology is perfect for people in business who are always on the run or always traveling. In addition to that, there’s the moisture-wicking technology and wrinkle-resistant material.
If you are looking for another brand, just in case the Van Heusen dress pants don’t fit your fancy, the Perry Ellis Men’s Solid Herringbone Slim-Fit Pant is a fantastic alternative.
The consumer reviews, company reputation and craftsmanship alone should be enough to get you to try what they have to offer.
